PSP Expo ‘treasure’ quest for retailers

Hot tub retailers and wet leisure specialists who visit the International Pool Spa Patio Expo in Florida are being provided with the opportunity to land a ‘treasure chest’ cash prize of $3,500 as part of the schedule of events.

TreasureQuestPicOrganisers of the international showcase being held in the Orange County Convention Centre, in Orlando, from November 5 to 7, will once again be running the popular ‘Treasure Quest’ visitor participation prize contest, as part of a special promotion to find treasured exhibitors within the 150,000 square feet of the show floor. Game cards will be available for visitors to pick up at registration, as well as being inserted into show programs.

Show Director Tracy Garcia CEM reported that she is excited to be bringing the PSP Expo to Florida for the first time in seven years with an exciting schedule of events.

“It’s going to be a stellar event for the industry,” she said; “We can’t wait to bring the expo to the Southeast U.S – our first return to Orlando since 2007.

“We have planned an exciting lineup of education, events and show floor features for our 2014 attendees.”

A first for the PSP Expo this year will see the debut of the Commercial Pavilion at the event, in tandem with the Commercial Education Classroom at Booth 4635; to host seminars throughout the event. The new Pavilion area is set to provide displays of equipment, as well as associated chemicals, and services.

Organisers have reacted to demand from 40 per cent of visitors who reported they work in some part of the industry’s commercial sector, with the launch of the Commercial Pavilion to operate alongside the established residential showcase.

“It’s our goal to see the entire pool, spa and backyard industry grow and succeed,” explained Tracy.

Pentair Water Commercial Pool & Aquatics Commercial Marketing Manager Mike Fowler will kick off the first of the Commercial Education Classroom sessions on Wednesday morning at 11:30am on the subject of ‘Examining Pump Room Efficiency’, which is scheduled to last for one hour. In the afternoon Lonza Technical Services Group Manager Ellen Meyer will conduct the session on ‘Water Chemistry for Commercial Pools’ commencing at 2pm.

Further sessions will be conducted on Thursday, in the morning and afternoon, ahead of the Friday morning one-hour session by Water Tech Corp Director of Sales and Marketing Rich Cacioppo Sr on the subject of ‘Understanding Emerging Pool Cleaning Technologies’ that has been scheduled for 10:30am.

This year the expo has also partnered with the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), which will be running its International Landscape Design Conference during the event.

A 1,000 square foot designer landscape pavilion will be created by APLD members, ahead of the association’s conference and a keynote presentation by award-winning landscape architect Ray Jungles.

“This strategic partnership brings a great opportunity to both groups of show organisers,” said Tracy; “APLD brings a valuable perspective to the industry and we are pleased to have their event co-locating with us.”

Opening hours for the expo will be 10am to 5pm on November 5 and 6, and 10am to 2pm on the final day, Friday, November 7. The Conference opening hours will be 8am to 8pm on November 2, 7:30am to 6:30pm on November 3 and 4; 8am to 5pm on November 5 and 6; and 8am to 9:45am on November 7.

A new online registration system has been launched for the expo this year and pre-registration is being encouraged by the organisers with passes including Expo Only, SuperPass or IndividualDayPasses.

It should be noted that only industry professionals will be allowed to attend the expo and no one under the age of 18 is permitted on the show floor during show days without supervision. Educational seminars are restricted to 18 year-olds and over. Show policies also state that mobile phones, still or video photography, on the show floor is strictly prohibited.
