Hot tub specialists celebrating golden haul

Two leading Artesian Spas hot tub retailers have been celebrating striking gold four times for the USA brand after achieving prestigious trade success recognition during the 2017 British Pool & Hot Tub Awards Gala Evening.
Between them multi-site retailers North Spas and Cannings H20 managed to gain a prestigious promotional boost for their respective Artesian Spas dealerships by landing four of the top Gold Awards during the industry’s annual Gala Evening at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, which brings together BISHTA and SPATA in a joint event to highlight the achievements of major players in the wet leisure industry by showcasing the best examples of design, construction, installation and innovation from trade association approved companies.
It was the second time that North Spas, which was established 11 years ago and has two showrooms in Birtley and Ponteland; had entered the British Pool & Hot Tub Awards after achieving a coveted BISHTA Gold Award in the ‘Residential Hot Tubs £14,000 and Over’ category last year.
The decision paid off again this time round as it resulted in the judges voting two entries from North Spas as Gold standard, in the ‘Residential Hot Tubs £7,000 to £14,000’ category and ‘Residential Hot Tubs £14,000 and Over’ category; and two with Silver Award recognition in the Hot Tubs in a Holiday Setting and Best Use of Digital Medial categories.
North Spas won their second successive top ‘Residential Hot Tubs £14,000 and Over’ category accolade; which is featured as a ‘Hot Project’ case study in the latest 2017 edition of WhatSpa? magazine; with an installation of a South Seas Deluxe Class 627M from the Artesian Spas Nevada-based factory of May Manufacturing as part of a ‘Golden Garden’ project to replace an existing hot tub that had fallen into disrepair.
“This picturesque hot tub project is the most challenging project we have completed to date,” reported North Spas Marketing and Sales Manager Samantha Murphy. “As part of our quotation we agreed to remove and service the client’s existing hot tub, which had been unused for a number of years.
“Our client chose a circular hot tub with bench seating to cater for his large family. As the family are varied ages, making the hot tub accessible was a key consideration.
“Although our team are highly experienced in intricate decking works they had never completed full curves like planned. They embraced the challenge and wow, what a result and one extremely delighted client!”
Hot tub, swim spa, pool and sauna specialist Cannings H20, which is a previous twice winner of the Peter Geekie Award for Retail Excellence, has showrooms in Exeter, Taunton and the newly-launched Plymouth site to promote the Platinum Elite, Island Spas, South Seas Spas and Garden Spas hot tub ranges, as well as the TidalFit swim spa options from May Manufacturing and also landed a Bronze Award to add to the two Gold accolades; which were for the ‘Residential Hot Tubs Below £7,000’ and ‘Hot Tubs in a Holiday Setting’ categories.
Cannings H20 also increased its status in the pool market in time for the busy spring and summer seasons by landing a Gold Award in the ‘Sustainability’ category of the SPATA Awards and a Silver Award in the ‘Inground Commercial Spas and Wellness’ category.
Hydropool Devon and Leicestershire-based Hot Tub Suppliers also each landed a brace of BISHTA Gold Awards; while West Sussex-based specialist Jacuzzi retailer Euphoria Lifestyle increased its previous haul of Gold Awards amassed over the years by taking top spot in the ‘Best Use of Digital Media’ category and also landed a Bronze Award.
Specialist Coast Spas and Regency Collection retailer A5 Spas, which has a 2017 marketing campaign feature in the latest edition of WhatSpa? to promote three dedicated showrooms in Warwickshire, Hertfordshire, and Lincoln, also increased its high-profile status in the industry with a significant BISHTA Awards haul by gaining four additional accolades during the presentation ceremony, including three Silver Awards and a Bronze Award.
Thriving Aberystwyth-based Marquis, L.A Spas and Superior Spas retailer Welsh Hot Tubs also landed a brace of BISHTA Awards, which included a Silver and Bronze Award during the presentation ceremony.
The evening, including the re-presentation of the ISPE 2016 Awards by ISPE President John Cheek, was hosted by Rob Malone. He was supported by BSPF President and BISHTA Chairman Alex Kemsley, who is pictured on the right presenting North Spas with a Gold Award; and SPATA Chairman Richard Carrington who helped to present the awards along with the awards category sponsors.
Big winners of the SPATA Awards were Cheshire-based Portrait Pools and Enclosures who were given an exceptional boost by landing eight accolades along with ‘The Dick Millward Trophy for Pool Contactor of the Year’ and the ‘Outstanding Pool of the Year Award’; while Sussex-based Home Counties Pools and Hot Tubs were the overall winners of the Peter Geekie Award for Retail Excellence sponsored by Caldera Spas distributor and wet leisure product specialist Certikin International.
British Paralympian Swimmer, Ellie Simmonds OBE presented a number of awards and received a standing ovation from the wet leisure crowd in recognition of her fantastic achievements as a British Paralymic Gold Medallist and World Record Holder.

Meanwhile, Blackminster Business Park-based Artesian Spas specialist Complete Spas, who also supply Marquis and Elite Spas, has also been celebrating their European golden status as the big hot tub winners in the European Union of Swimming Pool and Spa Associations (EUSA) Awards held at Forum Piscine, in Bologna, Italy after achieving success in previous BISHTA Awards. The Complete Spas entry landed the Gold Award in the Residential Hot Tubs category, which bestowed a Silver Award to Welsh Hot Tubs, and a Bronze Award to Euphoria Lifestyle.
